OUBLIS REGRETS ET REPENTIRS est une bobine oubliée (la 6 bis) de MES SEPT LIEUX

Ni bonus ni post-scriptum ni addendum ni apostille,

c’est un film sauvé des eaux, comme Moïse, qui raconte une journée dans la vie de Boris Lehman (mais comme il le dit lui-même, tous les jours sont différents, même quand ils se ressemblent).

Cette journée (cinématographique, elle va de soi) verra le réalisateur déambuler de café en librairie, de cinéma en musée, d’écrivain en musicien, dans les dépôts de la cinémathèque. Il fêtera son anniversaire dans son impasse, en présence d’une amie, et terminera son périple par une escapade à Bruges et une balade à la mer du nord.

Les saynettes et les rencontres se succèdent au gré du hasard et de la fantaisie.

La caméra joue des vilains tours et l’enregistreur s’emballe, si bien qu’ils disent clairement à Boris d’arrêter de filmer. Mais celui-ci persiste et signe encore un film, malgré les difficultés réelles et la pluie qui se met à tomber.

Et, comme dans toutes les bonnes histoires, tout finit par des (ici une) chansons.

LAPSES, REGRETS AND QUALMS

is a forgotten reel (the 6 B) from MY SEVEN PLACES

Not a bonus or a post-scriptum, or an addendum, or an apostil, this is a film saved from drowning, like Moses, that relates a day in the life of Boris Lehman (but as he says himself, every day is different, even when they look the same).

This day (a cinematographic day, it goes without saying) shows the director wandering from cafe to bookshop, cinema to museum, writer to musician, and into the storeroom of the film archive... He celebrates his birthday in an alleyway, with a friend, and finishes his journey with an escapade to Bruges and a stroll by the North Sea.

The little scenes and encounters follow one after the other, based on chance and whims.

The camera plays dirty tricks and the sound recorder gets carried away, to the point that both are clearly telling Boris to stop filming. Yet he persists, completing another film, in spite of genuine difficulties and the rain that starts to fall.

And, as in all good stories, evrithing ends in songs (here’s one).
